New Board

Updated: May 16, 2023

David and I made a Spirit board a few years ago and I never got around to fully finishing it. It got relegated to my list of 8 million other things-to-do and has been sitting on a shelf collecting dust since. We have other boards but don't tend to work with Spirit boards as often, preferring other Spirit communication methods over it in most cases. But sometimes you just get a wild hair to use it and that wild hair happened last night, my pretties.

When you live in a magickal household, it's not unusual to say, or hear things like, "Hey, let's have a séance tonight" and "Sure, I'll grab one of the Spirit boards!" and other things like "Has anybody seen my cauldron?...Not that one...not THAT one...No, not that one... yes, that one! Where was it? ... The downstairs bathroom...? What was I doing down there with it??" If you know, you know.

In other, completely random, news... this is your friendly neighborhood Witch sharing a PSA to always expect shit to go down weird when using a new board that don't none of your Spiritual peeps know about. You will end the session with at least one eyebrow raised in a classic WTF? arched position.

What could possibly happen, you ask? Nothing dire. Just don't expect awesome results your first go, and certainly don't expect the welcoming, familiar greetings from your Ancestral or Spiritual allies that you've grown accustomed to. It's the equivalent of calling your bestie from a new phone but you forgot to give them the new #. You are likely to be met with their voice mail or them answering the phone with a fake accent to throw off potential scam calls. Also, Spirits have no shame and enjoy a good joke, especially when its on you.

Make sure you hit up your Spiritual posse whenever using new equipment, moving to a new home, or contacting them from a new and unfamiliar place, such as when traveling. If your Spirits and entities are normally chatty, don't get discouraged if you get crickets or gibberish or unusually coded spelling out the gate. Give 'em a minute to reacclimate to the changes and you should find your groove again after a few sessions.
